Everyday Salad


This salad is simple to make and can be used every day with any vegetarian or non vegetarian dish.

Ingredients:

  • Onion cut into slices transversely
  • Small sized tomato sliced half longitudinally
  • Cucumber peeled and sliced
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Green chilies cut longitudinally
  • Lemon slices
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  • Arrange onion slices, cucumber slices, Lemon slices, tomatoes and green chilies in a platter.
  • Sprinkle salt just before serving.

Do You Know?

To produce good tasting, crisp onions, first slice or chop onions and place them in a bowl. Cover the onions with water and then add some ice to the water. Let the onions soak for 15 minutes to an hour and then drain before serving.

Golden Ginger Punch


It is simple and quik to make. Fresh ginger gives it a kick.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Orange Concentrate
  • 1 cup Lemonade Concentrate
  • ½ tsp grated ginger
  • ½ tsp paani puri masala (get from Indian Grocery store)
  • Pinch of salt mix
  • 3-4 fresh finely chopped mint leaves

Method:

  • Mix all ingredients in a punch bowl. Add ice cubes.
  • Amount of Ginger depends upon one’s taste for it.

Golden Glow Punch


It is simple and quik to make. Fresh ginger juice gives it a kick.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Orange Concentrate
  • 1 cup Lemonade Concentrate
  • 1 tbsp fresh juice of Ginger

Method:

  • Mix all ingredients in a punch bowl. Add ice cubes.
  • Amount of Ginger juice depends upon one’s taste for it.

Aloo Sabudana Khichdi


Soaked sabudana is cooked with ground peanuts, and green chilies to make tasty and easily digestible khichdi during fasting days.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sabudana(pearl sago)
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped finely
  • ¼ cup coarsely ground peanuts
  • 1 boiled, peeled and diced potato
  • ¼ cup ghee or cooking oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Sendha namak to taste
  • ½ tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped cilantro leaves

Method:

  • In a bowl, soak the sago 3-4 hours in enough water to cover.
  • Mix crushed peanuts,black pepper powder and sendha namak with soaked sabudana and keep aside.
  • Heat the oil/ghee in a pan on medium heat. Add cumin seeds. When the cumin seeds crackle add green chillies and potatoes, fry for 2-3 minutes.
  • Mix sabudana mixture and fry for about 8-10 minutes till sabudana becomes transparent. Sprinkle lemon juice.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
